There is still some tension between India and the Chinese military on the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Ladakh, which is also affecting the relationship between the two countries. In such a situation, to bring India under pressure, China has started preparations to build a railway line from Lhasa to Kathmandu in Nepal at Rs 2250 crore.
This railway line will also be further connected to Lumbini, which is near the Indo-Nepal border. This is a development strategy for China. This agreement was in cold storage for years, but when the tension between China and India on LAC increased, China immediately started this project which was closed for years. The Chinese team is now engaged in the work of this rail project from Tibet to Kathmandu. Its pictures are also trending in Chinese media.
China has started work on a decade-old rail project to connect Lhasa to Kathmandu. This railway line will reach Kerung from Lhasa in Tibet via Shigatse and then enter Nepal via Raswa Gandhi and go to Kathmandu. The work from Lhasa to Shigatse is over while work from Shigatse to Kerung has started.
At the same time, China is doing survey work on this project in the part of Nepal.Chinese media has released pictures of the survey of this railway project. In the pictures, a team is seen inspecting the corridor site. At a time when border tensions are running between Nepal and India, China is trying to strengthen its hold in Nepal through its projects.
