Shahid Afridi, former Pakistan, has suggested that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi ‘let cricket happen between two nations’.
India vs Pakistan Cricket History
- The India–Pakistan cricket rivalry is one of the most fierce sports vendettas in the world. The matches between India and its neighbour are known for its vehemence.
- In 1999, immediately following Indian Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s historic visit to Pakistan, the Pakistani team toured India for a series of Test matches and One Day Internationals. The Kargil War later in the year caused stresses between the country sides and cricket was again suspended.
Bilateral relations finally continued when BCCI invited the Pakistan national team to tour India for three ODIs and two T20Is in December 2012. In June 2014, the Pakistan Cricket Board declared an agreement had been reached to play six bilateral string across eight years.
