Fake cryptocurrency exchanges have bamboozled Indian investors with more than $128 million (nearly Rs 1,000 crore) as the global crypto market tanks, a new report asserted on Tuesday.

Cyber-security company CloudSEK said it has encountered an ongoing operation affecting several phishing occupations and Android-based fake crypto applications.

Launched last year in October as pilot in the US, Facebook parent Meta-owned digital wallet for cryptocurrency Novi will stop procedures from September 1, 2022. During the pilot program, users were enabled to send and receive money “immediately, securely, and with no fees” using the Paxos stablecoin.

One of the latest losses of the cruel crypto market crash, Novi users have been given time until September 1 to get their data and their remaining crypto credit off the site. According to The Verge, users will lose access to their accounts come September, and will no longer be able to add money to Novi starting July 21.
