Earlier today, The Supreme Court on Thursday denied Congress leader and former finance minister P Chidambaram’s plea against the Delhi High Court’s order, declining his anticipatory bail plea in the INX Media probe case. The top court on Tuesday continued his confinement with the CBI till September 5 in the INX Media case. “Allowing anticipatory bail at the initial stage may frustrate the investigation…It’s not a fit case to grant anticipatory bail.
Economic transgressions stand at the different footing and it has to be dealt with a different approach,” the Supreme court said. The top court continued that the former finance minister could move a regular bail petition before the trial court. With the SC refusing Chidambaram’s bail request, the Enforcement Directorate can now restrict the former Union minister in the INX Media case.
