ISRO discovers Vikram lander’s location; trying to place communication

ISRO has located out the accurate location of the Vikram lander, which had lost communication with the space agency just 2.1 km above the Moon’s surface on Saturday, ISRO Chairman K Sivan has said.

  • The Chandrayaan 2 Orbiter has taken a thermal picture of the Vikram lander, verifying its correct location on the Moon, the India Space Research Organisation chief affirmed. The space agency, still, has not been able to establish a connection with the Vikram lander yet.
  • We’ve attained the location of Vikram Lander on lunar surface & orbiter has snapped a thermal image of the lander. But there is no communication still. We are working to have communication. It will be communicated quickly,” the ISRO chief said, informed ANI.
  • But Unfortunately Communication from Chandrayaan-2’s Vikram lander to ISRO’s ground station was lost on Saturday, moments before the arrival on the lunar surface.
  • India’s Chandrayaan 2 came so adjacent to a historic triumph on Saturday, 7 September, before ISRO lost touch with the Vikram lander minutes just 2.1 km above the Moon’s surface.

  • Speaking the media, ISRO chairman, K Sivan told that the space agency lost communication with the Vikram lander when the mission was near an altitude of 2.1 kilometres from the surface of the moon.
