Former Union Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party leader Manoj Sinha will now be the new Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir. Girish Chandra Murmu resigned from his post on Wednesday evening. Now on Thursday morning, the appointment of Manoj Sinha has been announced by Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Let me tell you that on August 5, one year has been completed for the removal of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir, meanwhile, on Wednesday evening, there was sudden news of GC Murmu’s resignation. Murmu’s resignation has been accepted by the President.

Who is Manoj Sinha?

Manoj Sinha has been an MP from Ghazipur in the past and is a big face of the Bharatiya Janata Party in eastern Uttar Pradesh. However, he lost the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, which was considered a major setback. Manoj Sinha has been a minister in the first term of the Modi government and had the charge of Minister of State for Railways and Minister of State for Communications.

Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Girish Chandra Murmu has resigned from his post. He sent his resignation letter to the central government on Wednesday. According to sources, GC Murmu sent his resignation letter to the Center on Wednesday evening. GC Murmu is currently in Jammu and will leave for Delhi today.

GC Murmu took charge as the first LG of Jammu and Kashmir on October 31, 2019. He is a 1985 batch IAS officer of Gujarat cadre. When Prime Minister Narendra Modi was the Chief Minister of Gujarat, GC Murmu was his principal secretary. Please tell that Jammu and Kashmir became a union territory on 31 October. Girish Chandra Murmu became its first Lieutenant Governor.GC Murmu’s resignation came when Article 370 removed from Jammu and Kashmir is completing one year. Special state status was withdrawn from Jammu and Kashmir on August 5 last year. The Modi government at the Center had decided to remove Article 370 from here.
