It is reported that 2.6 billion dollars of Indian and US Seahawk helicopters may be traded during Trump’s visit.According to the story of livemint, India can purchase 24 Seahawk helicopters from American defence manufacturing firm Lockheed Martin during a trip to Trump. Two authorisations informed of the matter have said that the deal could be signed on the next week’s visit to Trump. Nevertheless, it is not known whether there will be any other case deals between the two nations on this visit.
According to stories, the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) supervised by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has confirmed the purchase of 24 MH-60R Seahawk maritime helicopters.
The purchase of these helicopters was approved by the Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) in 2018 itself.The deal will be done under Foreign Military Sales (FMS), which may be announced after the bilateral talks between the two countries on February 25.
Why India needs these helicopters
- It is known that MH-60R helicopters will not only have torpedoes but also anti-submarine missiles. In this package, India will also get training, support, spares and ground-to-air weapons.
- These helicopters will be delivered in the next five years after the contract is signed. These aircraft will replace the British Sea King helicopters.

“The programme is designed as a gesticulation from our side to repeat our commitment to take US-India relationship to a higher level,” he replied.
