Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) aircraft crashed before landing near Karachi Airport. PIA spokesperson Abdul Sattar confirmed the plane crashed. A-320 aircraft had a total of 107 people aboard. These included 99 passengers and eight crew members. The aircraft took off from Lahore to Karachi at half-past one in the afternoon and crashed in a residential area near Karachi Airport.
Smoke was seen rising at the accident site. Rescue officials are sending the injured to Astpal. Emergency has been declared in all the major hospitals of Karachi due to the plane crash.
Pakistan Army’s Media Wing Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) tweeted that Pakistan Army helicopters are reaching for relief. The army’s Quit Action Team and Pakistani soldiers along with civilians have reached the spot for relief and rescue efforts.
