The Lockdown Has Had A Bad Impact On The Auto Sector: Report

The coronavirus epidemic has had a profound impact on the automobile industry. Passenger vehicle sales have fallen drastically in June-2020. A total of 1, 05,617 units of passenger vehicle were sold in June. While 49.59 per cent was less than in June of last year. A total of 2,09,522 units were sold in June-2019.In fact, on Tuesday, the auto industry body SIAM released the data saying that the lockdown had a bad effect on the automobile sector. And the automobile industry is still under pressure.

Two-wheeler sales

Talking about the bike, 7, 02,970 units were sold in June -2020, whereas in June-2019, a total of 10, 84,596 units were sold, thus a 35.19% decline has been reported in sales.

There has also been a setback on the scooter sales front, a decline of 47.37 per cent in June, as a total of 2, 69,811 scooters were sold in June-2020, while 5,12,626 units were sold in June-2019.


If we talk about the three-wheeler, 10,300 units were sold in June, while in June last year, 51,885 units were sold. Accordingly, a decline of 80.15 per cent has been recorded.

About 80 per cent drop in production.

At the same time, production has also been affected due to the lockdown. A total of 14, 86,594 vehicles were produced during April-June 2020. In which there are passenger, commercial, three-wheeler and two-wheeler. While 72, 13,045 units of vehicles were built during April-June 2019. That is, about 79.39 per cent less production has been done in the first quarter of the financial year 2020-21.
